In a sad confirmation of patronage in the ruling party, the Zanu PF provincial committee, Jappy Jaboon, has announced that the party is taking back a citrus farm given to former Minister of State for Masvingo, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti because he has been expelled from the party.
Addressing a Mwenezi inter-district meeting at Rutenga on Thursday last week, Masvingo political commissar and MP for Bikita East, Jaboon said the party is going to take from Bhasikiti the citrus farm in Mwenezi since he no longer belongs to Zanu PF.
Bhasikiti however, dismissed the utterances as wishful thinking adding that land reform was not based on political inclinations. He said Bhasikiti should not continue occupying the farm following his public attacks on the ruling party that he no longer belongs to Zanu PF hence he should not benefit from its programmes.
“As Zanu PF Masvingo province we are going to take that citrus farm from Bhasikiti. He no longer belongs to the party so why should he continue to benefit from its programmes. Relevant procedures are being taken so that the farm will be allocated to small-scale farmers so that many people will benefit from it.
“Very soon we will announce a date for all the people of Mwenezi who did not have land to occupy the farm especially you Zanu PF officials and party members” said Jaboon.
Bhasikiti said that the farm was so productive that no person with a sound mind can talk about grabbing it from him.
“That is wishful thinking and those people have been saying that for the past three years. Land reform is a government programme regardless of political affiliations. Many people with divergent political views have benefitted from this programme including those from MDC. If someone wants my farm he may have to convince the Minister of Lands so that he will cancel my offer letter if the farm is not productive but that is not it” said Bhasikiti.
Bhasikiti also insisted that he was still a Zanu PF member since he has received no communication on his expulsion. He said he was elected on a solid popular vote which is difficult to challenge.
“What I know is I am yet to be informed about my expulsion. I was elected on a 99,9% popular vote. It cannot be overturned overnight. During central committee election they sent soldiers to intimidate people but I was elected and this time I will trash their candidate come elections. People want to see me as their MP until 2018,” said Bhasikiti. -state media

  1. An offer letter is not a legal document but a political document of no consequence that only fools can count upon to defend their case. To be more precise it is a ZANU document that only ZANU can honour or dishonour and there can be no further ado.How many times do people need to be told that the so called land reform is a part of the ZANU political circus and nothing more. There are very few people who legally own land in Zimbabwe and that fact on its own is the biggest economic handicap than the so called economic sanctions.Bhasikiti owns no farm to say the least.ZANU gave and ZANU will take. Zimbabweans ndimi makazwiparira mega. You moulded Bob into the monster he has become. He owns Zimbabwe ! Silambe over !
