tough talk…Wilbert Mukori

The thing about Morgan Tsvangirai, Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and the rest of MDC leaders without exception is that they are both breathtakingly corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent in equal measure! How else can one explain why the MDC failed to get even one democratic reform implemented after five years in the GNU and, more significantly going forward, they are still mired and confused as what to do next two years after the rigged July 2013 elections.
The 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA) signed by Mugabe, Tsvangirai, Mutambara on behalf of their parties and principles in the GNU and counter signed by then SA President Thabo Mbeki on behalf of SADC, the guarantor to the agreement; had a raft of democratic reforms which all the parties agreed should be implemented to “ensure the next elections are free, fair and credible and prevent a repeat of the disputed elections as happened in 2008”.
SADC leaders reminded Tsvangirai and his MDC colleagues again and again throughout the five year life of the GNU to “follow the GPA roadmap” and implement the democratic reforms. So with this regular reminder none of the MDC leaders can ever say they did not push for the implementation of the reforms because they did not know about the reforms, unless they are breathtakingly incompetent.
Not even one reform was implemented at the end of the five years of the GNU. Not one.
If we give all the MDC leaders the benefit of the doubt that none of them is breathtakingly incompetent and therefore understood what the reforms were all about. The only reason then why not even one reform was implemented is that the MDC leaders are corrupt; Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the ministerial cars, generous salaries and perks, the $4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. into doing nothing about implementing the reforms. There was nothing new here, Mugabe has bribed his own Zanu PF cronies throughout the years into forgetting all the pre-independence commitment to freedom, justice, human rights, etc. and join him in the building of the corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship that has ruled the nation with an iron fist since 1980.
MDC leaders, en masse, accepted Mugabe’s bribes and kicked the GPA reforms into the tall grass.
SADC Heads of State complained of MDC leaders “enjoying their time in the GNU and forgetting why they were there” in sheer frustration at MDC’s failure to get even one reform implemented.
What makes MDC leaders breathtakingly incompetent is that they all failed to realized that their political careers; make no mistake about to the last man and woman all MDC leaders never imagined that their swan song would end after the 2013 elections. They all believed that regardless of their failure to implement and reforms and thus ensure the elections are free, fair and credible MDC will still go on and win the elections.
It was not until noon on polling day, 31 July 2013, that it finally dawned on Morgan Tsvangirai that Zanu PF had rigged the vote!
By the end of 2014, all the three MDC factions; MDC-T, MDC (Ncube) and MDC Renewal; had one common position – they would not take part in an future elections until the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections are implemented. They all saw the sheer futility of take part in elections whose result was predetermined. The position was to boycott elections until the reforms are implemented.
It was doubtful whether the election boycott would achieve the objective and force Zanu PF to implement any reforms; particularly when the party in certain to lose the elections if it did. Now that the party is no longer any obligation to implement reforms Mugabe is almost certain to resist all calls to revisit the GPA reforms on the pretext that all reforms were implemented during the GNU.
But before the year is out since MDC-T announced it’s “No reform no elections!” position the party change its position. Tsvangirai told party supporters that his party will not boycott elections but will only take part in an election which will produce credible results.
“We will only take part in an election which is conducted in a free and fair environment,” he said. Yes, Dr Tsvangirai that is as clear as mud!
No one knows, not even Tsvangirai himself, knows what that means. How anyone can be this corrupt and incompetent and yet still be considered competent to be Prime Minister is a complete mystery! As long as we continue to have such a laissez-faire attitude to the important task of electing competent, the nation is even considering re-electing the same corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders regardless of their track record of failure, then we are going to remain in stuck in this hell-hole for a long time.

  1. Do not waste your energies attacking each other. Cant you identify a common approach and spread the message as to how we can get out of this mess? Debates yes but just insulting each other leads us nowhere. You do not even know each other. Its just , opinions and ideas but we seem to be failing to accommodate each other and the insults are all based on what has already happened and never on how to move forward.

  3. Professor Ncube was vocal in defending the new constitution and promising that it would deliver free and fair elections. No one forced him to do this!
You are just defending Professor Ncube for no better reason than that you nare an MDC supporter!

  4. Yes the problem is “Mugabe and his cruel regime” but that is only the half of it. The second half is how to remove that tyrant.
We are talking about how to implement the democratic reforms without which there will be no ending the Zanu PF dictatorship. Keep your eyes on that ball and nothing else.
Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had the chance to implement the reforms and thus remove Zanu PF. They failed to implement even one reform because they are
corrupt and incomplete. It is imperative therefore that if we want to remove Zanu PF from office we look for competent leaders who will implement those reforms.
You see if you keep your eyes fixed on the ball, the second half of our problem, and not allow them to wander around like the South Pole Albatross what Wilbert said makes sense!

  5. Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because we the people have made some serious mistakes so serious that those making them deserve to be called idiot. You can consider that too harsh a judgement but that will not change the fact that these were serious mistakes.
If calling the people who have made these serious mistakes idiots because they are idiots and, more significantly, that is the shock treatment that will get them to snap out of their comatose mental slumber then I am 100% behind calling them idiots. Even if that will not force those idiots to think, unless you come up with some better than calling them geniuses, the shock treatment is what they will get.

Are you jealousy of him because he is a someone and you are a nobody with hallucinations of bing a thinker?

  8. Problem is Mugabe and his cruel regime.Finish

  9. To argue that only Tsvangirai and Mutambara could have implemented the reforms is a shocking display of your own ignorance of how the parliamentary system works and the naive acceptance of leaders as Gods whose decisions must never be questioned.
There is no shred of evidence that any one in MDC tried to get even one reform implemented and there is only two possible explanation why that was so. One, the individual did not know about the reforms and/or failed to appreciate their importance in which case the individual is breathtakingly incompetent and has no business being an MP!
Two, the individual understood the importance of the reforms but did not want to risk Mugabe’s anger now that the tyrant had allowed them a seat on the gravy train. In which case the individual is corrupt and sold-out.
Both Ncube and Biti definitely know about the reforms since the two were actively involved in the drafting of the GPA. So the only reason they too did not lift a finger for five years to get at least one reform implemented is because as Ministers they were certainly very gratiful to Mugabe and the two joined the others in singing Mugabe’s praises during the GNU.
Implementing the reforms was the key to ending the Zanu PF dictatorship and hence the reason why all MDC leaders who failed to get this task done must resign. If these should not resign over a serious matter like this then I really do not see when they should!
People like you have such a shallow understanding of the issues and yet are foolish enough to dogmatically hold on to a point of view even when there is a mountain of evidence to prove you are wrong. Not even one reform was implemented, that is a historic fact and both Ncube and Biti will never deny that they had the opportunity to implement the reforms but did not because they were “too busy enjoying the benefits of being in the GNU” as SADC leaders have said. So what other evidence do you need to convince you the two are corrupt?

  10. I do agree with you to some extent with respect to Tsvangirai being corrupt & incompetent as he was the leader of MDC & the head of all ministers though the latter may have been in name only. I also suspect that had Tsvangirai chose a parth & stuck to it earlier in the GNU, Mugabe would probably have allowed some reforms but to Bob’s supprise this man was more than happy being called PM to the extent of even defending Bob at some stages.
How ever on Welshman I totally disagree with you not on corruption as I do not have any information on this ( the onus is on you to provide the evidence since you asert that he was corrupt). If you followed events in Zim Politics you will note that Ncube was sidelined for the better part of GNU ( & there is a reason why Bob did not want him there). Tsvangirai was meeting Bob weekly for five years where as Ncube was not afforded the chance.
On Biti again if you followed events in Zim then you will note also that he was not a Principal & if you are not a leader you cannot publicly argue for change of course with the posibility of being sensored or even suspended from the party for insubordination. The only avenue available to him was internal party structures & therein lies the problem. What are the chances that any such discussion would have been seen as plotting against the leader given the state of Zim politics. On curruption again you may have to furnish the evidence you relied on to come to this conclusion.

  11. Mr Tsvangirai,do you think there will be free elections when Zanu pf is still in power.i don’t see that happening so my advice is take the bull by its horns. Kush

  12. Tsvangirai must not be allowed to sell his cloud cuckoo land nonsense to the nation, not again!

  13. MDC had five years, FIVE YEARS, to implement the democratic reforms everyone who was paying attention in the drafting of the 2008 GPA said were necessary to ensure Zimbabwe’s next elections were free, fair and credible. MDC failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one.
My analysis “are so unthought and to be frank many, if not all people do not even read a paragraph,” you said. No my analysis is spot on my friend, I have picked the historic facts and let them speak for themselves. I do accept that there are some people whose intellect is so dull they do not understand a thing. I hope you are not expecting me to apologize for you being stupid, particular since it seem to be self inflicted?
I can believe that there are people like you who have never read a paragraph of my article or anything else worth reading. You are dismissing historic facts which you neither know nor understand because you know so little if anything at all.
These MDC leaders sold-out and you call me the crook for pointing out the real crooks to you; how stupid is that!
Being stupid is the worst curse ever; what could be worse than, out of sheer stupidity, attacking those fighting for one’s interest and defending those robbing one blind! Well just as well Yoyo that you do NOT know you are cursed; in your case ignorance is bliss!

  14. Wilbert, how do you measure competence? Your analysis are so unthought and to be frank, many ,if not all people do not even read a paragraph of your articles. How can you say people who won elections are incompetent? This is pathetic from someone who wants to take a safe side of just throwing attacks to people who have stood firm against the regime.Your tough talk is rather trash talk.MDC connects with the people at a massive high voltage, unlike you crooks who write for handouts

  15. So Tsvangirai is calling off election boycott because he is confident the next elections are going to be free and fair. He is not saying how he is going to accomplish this feat but expect us all to just accept that at some point, before the next election or on election day itself MDC will reveal their secret weapon, wave the magic wand repeat the magic chant, and all Zanu PF’s vote rigging schemes, voter intimidation, thuggery, everything will have no effect.
The next elections will be free, fair and credible and we will all live happily ever after just as in the fairy tales!
Here we go another day another cloud cuckoo land promise of free, fair and credible elections from MDC! What is shocking is the number of Zimbabweans who will believe Tsvangirai’s cheap lies!
