A family in Palapye has been left homeless and poor by bizarre fires that continue to wreck havoc in their home.
The fires have destroyed all their property leaving with nothing to show.
This week, 47-year-old Mmaseji Willie, phoned The Voice to report that the fires torched her last mattress.
She said the mysterious fires have been causing havoc and destroyed everything they kept in the house.

Narrating their ordeal, she said, “At first we thought a neighbour was burning trash until smoke engulfed the entire house. Our bags and clothes burnt to ashes. The fire came from under the bags.”
Her eyes looking into the distance with despair, she said when the fires first started they managed to rescue some of their property and kept them in their new house which was later gutted by fire.
“We have nothing left. We are poor and have to beg to eat. We even sleep outside to protect the little that is left. We can’t even go into the house because of the smell of the fires. Besides, if we return these clothes to the house, they will burn,” she said.
Pointing at the rubble of their hut which was gutted down by the strange fires, Willie’s daughter, 28-year-old Dikeledi Thapelo, said their hut burnt down in a strange way.
“The fire started from the roof top but we put it out with the help of the neighbours. The second one was so fierce that as we trying putting it off, balls of fire flew to the other side of the roof and gutted down the hut,” she said.
Their ordeal doesn’t end with the fire. Thapelo revealed that her brother died strangely beside the railway line.
“His legs were severed off and we suspect these fires are responsible,” she alleged.
The troubled family has sought the help of Eloyi Church which is popular for exorcising evil spirits.
A day after they went to seek help, another fire broke out.
Left holding her baby by her boyfriend, Thapelo blamed the fires for her misfortunes.
“I suspect a relative who has a vendetta against me. I think she has sent a thokolosi to terrorise us. The fire church which I attend has informed me that all these problems are a result of a problem in the family. Men don’t stay with us. I’m having trouble contacting the father of this baby.” – TheVoice
