Several activists protesting Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko’s continued stay at the posh Rainbow Towers hotel, were yesterday raided by armed policemen.
Since Mphoko checked in, on December 14 last year, the hotel has gained social notoriety now being named “Mphoko’s Sex Hotel” as the second in command refuses to rent a house saying there is none that fits his status while yet blowing taxpayer funds unnecessarily.
To date over $152,000.00 has been paid by the taxpayer which money activists say could have paid for needy areas in the national budget.
The protesters had armed servicemen storm them after descending on the hotel yesterday afternoon demanding that Mphoko must move out forthwith. They are Dzamara mate, Dirk Frey, Tendai Tendayi, Lynnette Mudehwe, Irvin Takavada, Elvis Mugari, and Tonderai Chigumbu, and they are at Central Police station awaiting court appearance.

The disturbance according to cops could not be tolerated as the same hotel is under security surveillance as the ZRP prepares for the Chinese President jetting into the country tomorrow morning.

The Chinese head of State is to stay at the same hotel for the duration of his national visit.
Meanwhile, the activists are demanding that Mphoko must with immediate effect check out of the hotel so that taxpayer money wasted on it all can be channelled to the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
