Mnangagwa Escapes Madhuku |OPINION

By Stewart Murewa | It is quite interesting that a constitutional expert Lovemore Manduku, of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), has been thrown into political oblivion after his plans to stop Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa crumbled this week.

Madhuku first lost faith of his handful supporters when he refused to relinquish his chairmanship post after his term of office expired. This showed that the man is not a realist but the antitheses of realist. According to their constitution the man should have not continued hanging on to power. The button should be passed on to the next person, according to the NCA constitution.

Our learned friend, who purports to be democratic and a guru in constitutional law, has become confused and run out of political ideas. Surely how can a person of his caliber try to stop the swearing in of the two Vice Presidents who do not belong to his party or pressure group? This buffoon, of dubious political credentials, wants to get relevance after failing to gain prominence in the compilation of the new constitution.

Madhuku wanted to stop the swearing in of the Vice Presidents using some clauses of the current constitution. It is now a fascinating paradox that he is now accepting the constitution which he used to lambast. The man is now confused as the party which he wanted to form did not find takers. The NCA, as a pressure group, did not have an impact which it desired, and as a pressure group we know that it has a life span and that has expired. A pressure group ceases to have relevance after the desired impact has been achieved.

Now the new constitution has been written and adopted; there is no more relevance for Madhuku and his few supporters, if they are there of which we doubt very much. I feel very sorry for the man of political misfortunes. We know that the man is power hungry like Morgan Tsvangirai. The MDC-T has rejected coalition with Madhuku because they know that he is power hungry and he has no support to add value to their party.

The National Constitutional Assembly is now broke as the donors are no longer giving funds to a non-functional and irrelevant organisation. It would be prudent for Madhuku to concentrate on lecturing and leave politics as he has failed to get political recognition. The man was barred from practicing as a lawyer as he misused trust funds. So how can we trust such a person as a politician. We want people with a clean record.

We should not be confused by political amateurs in the likes of Madhuku who are agents of political change. Instead we should concentrate on implementing our economic blue print Zim- Asset. Together we will build Zimbabwe and prosper.

  1. Yes Tino…you are right, just as right as all those who have commented before you. And yes, Madhuku is sharp…there is NO UZ trained lawyer who ever had better grades than Madhuku (during our days, zvemazuva ano, hameno) The difference between you and others is that you are generalising while others are restricting their comments to the article above. Chete chete (yako inhorowondo)

  2. People who support Madhuku must know that he is a man who has turned NCA into a man show. There is nothing sharp in Madhuku as he hasn’t done anything to make ZANU lose sleep.Challenging inauguration of Vice Presidents is a non events, considering the party you are dealing with.Madhuku wants to go it alone everytime, he wont be found among others mobilising for a common cause. He wants to be worshipped as a thinker .He fought so hard to deny John Makumbe lead NCA when his term had expired. Now he is life chairman of NCA. It becomes ironic for him to preach democracy. We have nothing whatsoever against Madhuku. But to consider him as a force is senile. We don’t as well condone his public bashing on media
As long as we unite in good faith we will boot out the regime.
Vanhu vanokara vakavhiya mbudzi panoita basa.Umwe anovhiya akabata pane chiropa kuti ndingatangigwa. The opposition guys are thinking of portifolis, not the suffering masses.
It is at this point that Simba Makoni, Dabengwa, Margaret join hands and make the MDC strong, not for individual purposes, but to better the lives of the people.

  3. People should be free to express their opinions without fear of cyber bullies who appear to practically live here.

  4. I agree, a very one-sided personal attack on Madhuku. The writer sounds like he is carrying out a hitjob on behalf of someone.

  5. It sounds to me as though Stewart was paid to belittle Madhuku. Let me tell you something for nothing, Stewart. Madhuku has a razor-sharp mind…ask anyone who has been to law school. Your whole article has no balance…smell the coffee (there is no difference between you nezvina hwindi zvekuda ku’stripper’ musikana aizviendera kwaaida. Sad, very sad.
