Kariba: 26 Lions Still Roam Freely In Bush After Sex Ambush

Reports coming out Kariba state that the three lions brutally killed at the end of last week were actually innocent cats, following information out of a nearby game reserve in Matusadonha, that a large pack numbering 29 lions escaped the enclosure shortly before a woman and her boyfriend were attacked in the bush while in intimacy last week.
In this article ZimEye reveals that Kariba is not a safe area for bush trekking or other such activities at present, despite the killing of (3)three lions at the end of last week.
A National Parks Public Relations official on Monday has dismissed the reports as she told ZimEye according to her knowledge they are not true.
She queried the reports:
“Who told you that story? Where did you get those lies?
Listen there are were only three lions and they were killed (last week).”
She also accused ZimEyeof reporting falsehoods which she said are detrimental to the tourism industry.

Zimbabwe: 26 Deadly Lions Still Roaming In Kariba

Another man from the Kariba Animal Welfare Fund Trust (KAWFT), Mr Cavan Warren also dismissed the lion escape reports. “The only nonsense we received was from the three lions and we downed them last week,” he said.
But ZimEye has since found out that there are contradictions in the officials’ statements on the status of affairs with the lions.
A circular seen by ZimEye and copied to Mr Warren himself clearly reveals for instance that two other lions were cited at the weekend way after the other three cats had been killed.
The circular clearly reads:
“There were two reports over the weekend that another 2 lions had been seen in two different areas but near the same general area that saw last week’s happenings.
“Please note that whilst these are NOT proven man eaters, they are WILD ANIMALS and need to be treated with suspect, alertness and distance.
“PARKS & WILDLIFE AUTHORITY – the area Manager for Charara Safari Area has asked that people be advised to AGAIN be alert and stay on open roads and not bush paths and avoid thick vegetation.
“They are following up on the report as a matter of urgency and have, in the meantime advised head office, who are also dealing with the matter as fast as possible.”
What further reinforces belief that there are indeed 26 more lions on the loose, is that at present the Department of National Parks and Wildlife has also failed to demonstrate that they performed checks with the surviving victim of the attack last week, so to obtain clarification by way of identifying the killed animals and matching them with the attacking ones. It was not clear if the man was given the opportunity to identify and confirm that the three lions shot last week were indeed the attackers. Contrary to denials by the National Parks Officials, other witness reports also stated simultaneously that there were in fact at least 7 lions present when the sex attack took place, instead of (3)three as claimed by the National Parks and Wildlife authority.
Terror in Kariba.
To further confirm the beliefs, ZimEye yesterday found that a virtual curfew is now in place in the resort town and only people with vehicles are travelling outdoors after 6PM. Residents have been warned to stay alert and to avoid crossing into thickets.

  1. May the writer please proof

  3. George…… the one you are referring to is Mavuradona Game Reserve, north of Centenary. Matusadona Game Park is south of the Lake Kariba shores

  4. Didn’t know there is a place near KAriba with that name. Matuzvadonha is 366 kilometres from Kariba along the Zambwbew Valley towards Kaborabasa after Kanyemba, falling into Mashonaland Central

  5. George bachinche,, matusadona national park is 10km from Kariba. I am not sure you are Zimbabwean. Learn your geography dear.

  7. You see the problem is that Zimeye is used to writing rubbish and lies gathered by the likes of Hebertdog, Davidog Hwangay, Benjigay Chitaitai and many more in support of a stupid puppet party called MDC thereby forgetting that at least once in a while they should be able to report truthfully and factually.
Kariba is a game area. lt is common knowledge that lions roam about daily near or withing the vicinity of the resort town. Those who work at the Lake Crocodile park will tell you that it is very unusual to exceed a week without someone seeing a lion or lions on their way to and fro work. But the easiest of all is to go to the lakeside especially in Chawara area at sunset and you will be rewarded by seeing these lions waylaying for their prey which normally will be waterbucks, zebras and buffaloes. People can see as many lions as they can at whatever given time but that should not mean all of these animals were involved in the recent attack of two human.
The three lions shot and killed last week are the real lions involved in last week’s attack. Professional hunter and friend of mine who led the trekking and killing of the cats Humphrey Gumpo together with Daddly confirmed the presence of other lions around the town. Precaution as usual should be taken by residence when travelling. VIVA BABA Mugabe

  8. You are making fools of yourselves ZIMEYE. Do you know where Matusadonha
is? It is several hundred kilometers from Kariba

  9. I, in my limited knowledge of the behaviours of these cats, guessed right when I said it’s gonna be very difficult to deal with these marauding felines. For a start, they can easily retreat into the wild and camouflage themselves with the innocent ones…
