I will quit politics if MDC T contests by elections – Sikhala

MDC T National Executive Member Job “Wiwa” Sikhala has vowed he will quit politics if his party reverses its resolution not to contest any elections in the country until some unmentioned electoral reforms are put in place by government.
Taking a $100 bet and putting his political career on the table against prominent Zimbabwean writer Pettina Gappah on Facebook, Sikhala vowed that the MDC T will as a matter of principle not participate in the 17 by elections coming as a result of his party dismissing its Members of Parliament suspected to have defected from the party. Sikhala a former Harare legislator himself also discarded the perception that not only will the MDC T take part in the by elections but he will be one of the MDC T candidates.
Gappah and Sikhala have made their challenge open for members of the public to monitor.
Petina Gappah, writes, “I am asking my friends to share this post as widely as possible, for accountability. I have bet Job Wiwa Sikhala that not only will the MDC participate in the urban by elections, but Job himself will be a candidate. He says not only will the MDC NOT take part in the by-elections, he will RESIGN from politics if they do. If they take part, he owes me a 100
dollars and a resignation letter.”
Job Sikhala writes “I have also thrown my $100 on the betting basket. No one is going to be allowed to play around with our minds on this one…….don’t buy Petina Gappah ‘s poke on the MDC (T) nose. No one is contesting. If I am wrong on this one, I will resign from politics.”
The public has reacted with a wait and see interest on the matter. Several have warned Sikhala that his words will come back to haunt him.

My sister Pettina will lose the bet. MDC-T has said they will not take part in any elections unless “some unmentioned electoral reforms are put in place”; the operative phrase here is SOME UNMENTIONED. So by producing a voters roll – regardless of its accuracy, etc. – and appointing a hard-liner Zanu PF supporter as the Police Officer to investigate all elections related complains as required by the new constitution, for example, MDC-T can take part in the elections since their demands would have been met!
The fact that the implemented reforms are so insignificant they will not stop Zanu PF rigging the elections is irrelevant as far as MDC are concerned.
The truth is MDC-T do not have a clue what kind of electoral reforms are required, they have never seriously thought through this – assuming they have the mental ability to do so and most of the MDC leaders do not. The same MDC-T leaders calling for boycotting the elections until some unspecified electoral reforms are implemented took part in the July 2013 elections against SADC advice not to. Nothing has changed on the political ground since those elections other than that the donors who had financed MDC until now have deserted them in droves.
Zanu PF has already produced a voters roll for the two 27 March 2015 by-elections and will easily do the same for the 17 by-elections to fill the former MDC renewal seats. If MDC-T do not contest in any of the 17 by-elections then it would be because the party is broke!

Everyone knows that a MDC executive meeting is like a ping pong tournament with the captain widely known for zig zagging and can’t hold straight course.

Job Sikhala and Tendai Biti have so much in common. They are both temperimental, arrogant and self centred. They are both not Team players. Job cannot veto decisions of MDC T National Executive Council and he should therefore not pre-empty its decision on this matter. If Job Sikhala resigns from politicts so what?Job Sikhala is not the spokesman of MDCT. Tendai Biti vowed that he would change his name to “Morgan Mugabe” if his MDC renewal MPs were recalled from Parliament. Where is he now? Time is a solution to most problems ask Tendai Biti?

Find a way through this with Biti and crew. Eish! guys, you opposition politicians are arrogant, proud, hard hearted, unforgiving, selfish and short sighted. talk about myopic. Most of you go to church and have bibles. but you do not know what is inside them. You do not know the One you claim to follow: Jesus Christ. Because if you did you wouldn’t behave like this. MDC T is playing with people’s minds Obert Gutu said, MDC T is bound by congress resolution not to participate in any by elections until all the electoral reforms are put in place, but from the look of things, I would like to think that the reforms are not yet put in place, Obert Gutu went on to say, national council can act other wise, if by any chance MDC T participates in the by elections, surely Zanu PF is justified to say they have always been winning the elections all along, hatidi kuzombonzwa munhu we MDC T anotaura kuti hee the playing field was not level ndokusaka tadyiwa izvozvi tiri kunzwa kuti moda kukwikwidza ya level here playing field yacho, am very disappointed with these hypocrites masquerading as democrats.
