Although proposals were made stating that sanctions against Mugabe in person would compromise Africa’s relations with the West, it emerged that the real issue of concern was poor health and failing capacity attributed to old age. His memory problems, and a failing temperament were also cited as cause for concern. This became obvious when the issue of travelling to Europe or the United States was raised with concerns over those nations’ sanctions. Although Mugabe’s negotiators at the meeting intimated that this [sanctions] would not be a problem because he [Mugabe] would be travelling on official business as he has always done standing in for Zimbabwe.
High level sources inside the meeting told ZimEye.com, “The President was told he will be a hindrance to Africa’s international image and its negotiation power with the rest of the world.”
“For progress a deputy chair can easily take the job,” other heads of State proposed.
Meanwhile Mugabe’s team coming out of the meeting, began crying foul claiming that the Western governments are pressurising the African states against Mugabe ascention.

  1. Who denies that he is old but SA’s News24 reminds those naysayers that, “Despite a resurfacing of rumours of ill-health, the 90-year-old Mugabe looked youthful and strong as he spoke to journalists this morning.”

  2. How can the AU even contemplate a man who presides over a failed nation, a national genocide, torture, rigged elections, an ongoing violent and chaotic and ruinous land issue, racialism, tribalism hate speech oppression etc, etc?????? ZPF must repent and get their house in order. SADC also has lost our respect. They are pathetic. They do not care for people only a despotic head.

  3. KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK hw can africa represented by an old person like him .pliz come back home and fire more pple from yo ZANU .GOD IS FO US ALL.

  4. The state newspapers (Herald, Sunday Mail etc) wil say Mugabe rejected the post as he has pressing commitments back home blah blah blah. This is indeed a slap in the face of ZANU PF

  5. IT is only the people in ZANU PF that see that Mugabe is young, energetic and a democrat.
They need to be told by others that Mugabe is no longer fit to rule.
