Sakile Mtombeni defends MDC resolution
By Simba Chikanza 17-11-08
Sheffield(ZimEye) The MDC provincial secretary for UK & Ireland, Sakile Mtombeni, battled fiery onslaughts on Saturday from the MDC's women supporters who vehemently questioned what they termed the 'sincerity' of the MDC's position in the recently announced National Council Resolution. On top of the list of questions was the inquiry into what was defined as the MDC's gradual descent into ZANU PF's hands.
Using a combination of verbs and firm body language with gesticulation matching that of US President elect, Barack Obama's, Mtombeni delved into a number of issues seemingly overlooked in recently published media articles as the NewZimbabwe on Friday. His words seemed to be an amplified echo of the same words that Thokozani Khupe had declared on Friday saying:
“In the event of an illegitimate government being unilaterally formed, the MDC will not be part to the same and will peacefully, constitutionally and democratically mobilize and campaign against the illegitimate government. “The humanitarian crisis has to be urgently attended and that Zanu PF and its interim authority must ensure free, unfettered availability and access of food aid and more importantly the international community must exercise its obligation of Responsibility to Protect under the United Nations,”
Mtombeni was speaking at a regional District meeting held at Sheffield on Saturday.
