A new Political Party for coloured people is formed
By Vusi Moyo 31-10-08
Bulawayo (ZimEye) -A political party representing the interests of coloured people has been formed in Bulawayo. Announcing the formation of the party at a news conference, the interim chairman of the revolutionary council for the advancement of coloured people, RCACP Mr Arnold Payne said
"We are tired of being over looked in empowerment issues by Zanu PF, and the MDC does not act like thy respect us as mixed race people"
On Wednesday night a 48 member interim executive committee adopted a constitution which promised to seriously lobby for the advancement of coloureds.
Arnold Payne is a civic leader who fought ZBC in courts in a bid to force the state broadcaster to charge viewers outside of Harare less in TV licence fees on the grounds that unlike residents of the capital who had two TV channels, they only had ZTV One. Payne is also known for having once campaigned for the Matabeleland Zambezi water project pushing a wheel barrow between Bulawayo and Harare several times raising funds for this project. Comments
