The brawl at the offices saw over three people being arrested with some taken to hospital after sustaining injuries.
In a military coup style take over, the dynamos offices are said to have been occupied by ‘invaders’on Friday after the team left for Egypt for their CAF champions league mini league stage match against Al Ahly. Dynamos chairman Patson Moyo alleges that he received a text message whilst at the Harare International Airport that the offices had been invaded.
“I got the text that the offices had been invaded but I could not do anything then because we were at the airport. I didn’t even tell the players because I didn’t want them to lose focus.”
“So when we came back today I was told again that the invaders were still there. And when I got there there was chaos. People were fighting uncontrollably. Police had to come and in the process, my secretary general Tawanda Murerekwa was assaulted so bad we had to take him to hospital,” said Moyo.
The chaos comes as the club is set to meet perennial rivals Caps United this weekend in an ABC super 8 semi final match and play Al Ahly next week in the return fixture of the CAF champions league mini league stage match.
A comment could not be immediately obtained from the faction led by George Shaya who are alleged to be involved in today’s brawl. But as has been the case with dynamos, leadership squabbles have characterised the club especially when it is enjoying success on both the domestic and regional front.
“I wonder why this did not happen when we were looking for the us$ 120 000 for the team’s trip to Egypt. Now that we are back people want to take advantage of the home games to make money, its not on,” charged Moyo.
In what could be an embarrassing chapter in Zimbabwean football history, Moyo says they might abandon the Al Ahly match if the wrangles at the club continue. Already the situation is going to attract the attention of CAF who might deem it fit to suspend dynamos further participation in the champions league.
