We are more than closer to clinching a deal! - Mutambara
By George Nyathi [16-10-08]
Harare (ZimEye) Zimbabwe's deputy prime minister designate
Arthur Mutambara says the leaders of the three principal parties to
the country's crisis are "more than closer to clinching a deal."
Addressing journalists today, Mutambara, who has been the only
voice in the void created by mediator, Thabo Mbeki's grip on
information, told journalists that the three leaders, President
Roberrt Mugabe, prime minister-designate, Morgan Tsvangirai, and
himself, had overcome some of the sticking points that had haunted
the talks since the signing ceremony of the unity deal on September 15
It has been a month since the three principals representing Zanu PF
and the two formations of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
signed an agreement to work together to produce an all-inclusive government.
However, the crisis that has seen them drag for a month without a cabinet
is that of the allocation of ministries in the new cabinet.
Said Mutambara: " We are here to set up one govenment of Zimbabwe.
There will be no MDC or Zanu PF government. There will be no MDC minister
or Zanu PF minister, but a zimbabwean government minister. We are here to
do the final closure of the government of Zimbabwe so that we can start
going down to serious business that the people of Zimbabwe chose us to do."
